ESG-GLORIA MANOR

ESG

GLORIA MANOR has continuously strived for sustainable tourism since opening. We support the government’s Net Zero by 2050 pathway and action plan, and work together to create travel experiences that will protect people in the future.

Reducing Carbon Emissions

  • Eco-Friendly Transportation: We provide three shuttle buses and a dedicated High-Speed Rail (HSR) transfer service to encourage guests to reduce self-driving. We have also designed "Secret Path" walking maps to guide guests in exploring Kenting National Forest Recreation Area on foot. In 2023, six EV charging stations were installed in our parking lot, and we actively promote carpooling among staff to minimize transportation-related emissions.
  • Green Energy & Architecture: Low-carbon green building materials were used extensively during renovations. We have replaced traditional boilers with high-efficiency heat pump and solar hot water systems. This dual-system integration saves more than 50% of electricity compared to traditional methods, effectively achieving energy conservation.
  • Low-Carbon Cultural Experiences: To reduce the environmental impact of travel, we bring iconic local cultural activities into the hotel (such as Houwan seed ornament making and Shuiwakou hay cookie workshops). These in-house workshops allow guests to engage with local traditions in a low-impact setting, integrating cultural preservation into the daily stay.

Reducing Plastic Consumption

  • Sustainable Amenities: Since our opening in 2012, we have exclusively used eco-friendly slippers and provided guests with reusable water bottles, complemented by water dispensers on every guest floor. To date, we have eliminated nearly 500,000 pairs of disposable slippers and 1 million plastic bottles, significantly reducing carbon emissions from single-use plastics.
  • Zero-Waste Initiative: We do not proactively provide disposable toiletries. In 2024, we transitioned fully to large-format bath amenities that comply with ESG standards.

Lowering Carbon Footprint

  • Our procurement policy prioritizes products with environmental labels. For dining, we primarily source local seasonal produce and specialty ingredients to minimize the carbon footprint of the supply chain.

Waste Management

  • We have established a rigorous classification and disposal system for waste cooking oil and industrial waste. Waste oil is regularly collected by certified recyclers for repurposing. All other recyclables and general waste are strictly categorized and processed by the Hengchun Township Office, ensuring a fully traceable and compliant process.

Promoting Environmental Education

  • Community Partnerships: We maintain a long-term partnership with the Shuangliu Nature Education Center (under the Pingtung Branch of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency). Together, we host nursery walks, ecological courses, and "Project WET" water resource training, involving local communities to cultivate environmental education mentors.
  • Staff Engagement: We conduct regular environmental training and biannual "Mountain Cleaning" initiatives involving cross-departmental teams to actively improve the surrounding community and forest environments.

Ecological Conservation

  • We have planted Messerschmidia argentea (Sea Lettuce Tree) to attract Crow butterflies. Our nature tours, including bird watching and nocturnal observations, are designed with strict adherence to ecological carrying capacities, helping guests appreciate natural beauty while understanding the vital importance of conservation.

Connecting with Local Communities

  • Social Resilience: We view the local community as a long-term partner. Through institutionalized cooperation, economic support, and talent cultivation, we aim to be an engine for regional economic growth and social resilience.
  • Local Employment: We prioritize hiring local residents, who now account for over 60% of our workforce. Nearly 50% of our staff have served for over three years, and 25% for over five years. We provide continuous internal training to nurture sustainable tourism professionals in Pingtung.

Sustainable Development & Safety

We consistently integrate ESG topics into internal corporate training to ensure a safe and sustainable future.
